Birdman Rally Box Kite
One day I went out into my prison (back yard) and there were pieces of very tiny glass. And I was not wearing shoes because I did not know there was anything there. So, when I was playing handball I stepped on some glass and Ripley needs to be quiet because she is interrupting my thoughts. And now, my sock is all covered in big blobs of blood because we used it to wipe up the blood on my foot.
In Australia, there is a thing called the Birdman Rally. It is when people build crafts for themselves for them to fly on. Some people are actually trying to win, others are just trying to show off. Like a lot of people just run and jump. To make sure it is safe, they jump off a really big platform into a giant river called the Yarra River. The only girl got 15 meters and she only used helium filled balloons. (I'm letting you figure out what 15 meters is in feet.)

Dearest Casey, I didn't know that you were in prison. I thought that you were in Oz!! I hope that your foot is better--that glass must have hurt a lot. Good thing that parents have lots of experience getting stuff out of feet!!!
The Birdman Rally sounds so cool. I remember that Grandpa and I took a boat ride with Mom and Dad on the Yarra River. Maybe we should figure out some ways to fly like the people in your pictures. We could be like Icarus!! I especially loved the balloon lady. Whenever I went to a place where someone was holding tons of balloons, I always pictured them flying into the sky!!
How is Garden Buddy? Did he do his work at the gardens you visited? I hope that you repaired his foot--it is hard to stand on only 3 feet!!
Lots of mushy stuff! xx Grandma
Wow! I thought the egg drop we used to do was challenging. What would you do to try to fly?
For every birthday since he could talk, Jack has wanted us to buy enough balloons so that he can fly. I wonder how many it would take. I think he weighs about 45 pounds not and his birthday is later this month.
I'm sorry about your foot. Sometimes prison can be rough.
Love, Nancy
Hi Casey,
It was great to hear your voice last night. Mom sent pictures today of you and Ripley being goofy. You both are growing so fast! I'm sorry about your foot, too. I'm glad you didn't need to rush to the doctor's office! Next year, maybe you should build something for the Birdman competition! Hope you're having fun in Sydney! We will give Taz a big sloppy kiss for you!
